The First Fruits

The First Fruits

1 Cor.15:20

April 17, 2008

Christ has been raised from the dead, the first-fruits of those who have fallen asleep.

Christ’s resurrection as the first-fruits is a pledge or a guarantee of the ‘rest of the resurrection harvest’ of all the believers.

In ancient Israel, the offering of the first-fruits was celebrated on the day after the Passover Sabbath. A sheaf of Barley from the Barley harvest was presented before the Lord as a “wave offering” (Lev 23:10, 11). The larger harvest would follow.

The day of the first-fruits is the same as the day of our Lord’s resurrection. This is the day when Jesus offered Himself as the ‘Wave Offering’ to the Father. His resurrection is the guarantee and the Promise of the harvest to come!

In fact, God expected all first-born, all first-fruits to be brought into His presence with praise and thanksgiving. Do we?

Let us bring to God with thanksgiving our first and the best; out time, our devotion, our health and our wealth. He will bless us.

Did He not give His best, His own Son to us?
