The Lord stood with me

2 Timothy 4.17

When Paul appeared before Nero the first time, every one forsook him. But Paul writes “The Lord stood with me and strengthened me”

We may go through similar situations when we are under great pressure and every one deserting us. But the Lord will never desert us. He has promised “I will never leave you nor forsake you” He has said this not once but many times.

Jonah, the disobedient prophet of God was running away from God’s direction. He had to be thrown into the sea. And then a big fish swallowed him. Jonah cried to God from the belly of the fish. God heard his cry and commanded the fish to vomit him out!

Some times, due to our folly, we find ourselves in situations where everything is so dark and gloomy and there seems to be no way out, But the Lord is merciful! If we cry out to Him He will bring us out of the situation.

Ungodly people hated Daniel because of his payer life and his stand for God and His righteousness. He was thrown into the lion’s den. But the Lord shut the mouths of the lions. The three Hebrew men were thrown into the fiery furnace. They were not burnt because the Lord was with them.

When a severe tempest arose in the Sea of Galilee the disciples feared that the boat would capsize and they would sink. They did not realize that the boat could never sink because Jesus was in the boat. Jesus had told them to go to the other side. No storm could hinder!

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday today and forever. He is alive. He will stand with you and he will never desert you. His name is Emmanuel.
