1 John 5:4

“Whatever is born of God overcomes the world”(NKJV)

Some live in seemingly “outward victory”, while inner victory seems far fetched. What goes on is survival and not a victorious life. The devil mocks at such spiritual life. The sense of defeat gnaws out the joy of overcoming life.

I was also going through failures in my spiritual life, struggling to lead a consistent victorious life, till some years back until the Word of God hit me powerfully one day. I was reading the above verse.

“ Whatever is born of God?” I wondered! Why is it written, “Whatever” instead of “Whoever”. It made me to think.

I felt the Spirit of God speaking to me. “Are you born again?”

A conversation somewhat like this followed.

“Yes, Lord. I am born again” I was humble but emphatic, being sure of my salvation.

“How?” was the next question.

John 3:5 came to my mind. “I was born of the Spirit of God”

“Is the Spirit of God ever a loser?” He asked.

I said, “No Lord, never!”

“Do you believe that He is always an overcomer?” I understood what the Spirit of God was trying to tell me.

Suddenly I realized; whatever is born of God also includes whoever is born of God. He is an overcomer. I am born of God. I am an overcomer! Not by my strength; but by the strength of the Spirit of God who is in me. He is always an overcomer. So am I; always an overcomer. This is not spiritual pride. It is my “birthright ” in Christ!

Faith surged into my soul. What strength! What joy! It changed me into a new person! I keep saying “I am born of God. I am an overcomer”. And then, what is whatever? My vision, my desire, my ministry; everything that is born of God will overcome!!

Winning is exciting. Defeat is destructive and painful. It lowers our spirit and destroys our faith. God wants us to live in victory always! Victory is our “Birthright” We are born of God to conquer.

The devil tries to hide this truth from us. He will distract our attention to look at our problem and how little we are and how giant like our problems are. When David faced the giant Goliath, victory was already in his heart. He went out and killed him. It was not the stone from the sling but David’s faith in God slew the giant. Victory was a settled matter in David’s heart.

Walk-in victory. Believe that you are an overcomer because the Overcomer is in you.

Faith in God and His Word and Prayer should be our daily exercise to keep us walking in victory. If you are born again expect to live in victory. When you are surrounded by a host of enemies; sin, satan and circumstances confess your faith in God like David who declared “For by You I can run upon a troop; And by my God, I can leap over a wall”

It is impossible to live in victory unless you realize you are victorious. When big problems come do not look at the problems. Take your eyes off the circumstance. Look to Jesus with the eyes of faith. Realize that you are born of God.

You are born of God to conquer and to soar high! Make sure of your birthright.
